Jorge Balbontin
Born in Cuba, raised in the south of Chile by wolves, Jorge started his hospitality career in Santiago by age 17. With 20 he already was in Barcelona and then later Mallorca. It wasn’t until he went to try his luck in London where he started at Cafe Pacifico when he fell for (or into) the Tequila Category. Many trips to Mexico later (and a few adventures with Tom Estes too) ; Jorge became a leading global figure for the category. He has travelled to over 40 countries. Helped launching several brands and re formulate the current expressions of Curado Tequila. A unique, forward thinking; blanco tequila that uses natural infusions of cooked agave from various regions. Currently Jorge is the brand development manager for Vantguard and the global brand manager for Curado. He can also be found making barbecues and Margaritas at random AirBnbs around Barshows around the world.
